Have you ever been so used to something that it's hard for you to replace it with something else?
Let me make an analogy.
Do you like rice? Rice which means nasi or cooked rice in Indonesia. According to one vitamin C commercial in television, rice means more than just a food for Indonesian society. Whatever. But it's true that most Indonesian I know consider main meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) as a meal when they eat rice with side dishes and vegetables.
Yea, rice is the right analogy. It's okay to skip rice for sometimes, let's say I don't have any problem eating beef steak or fried noodles for dinner, without rice. It's okay to eat bread instead of rice for breakfast. But, do i ever live without rice for more than 2 days? Never once in my whole existence. I never get bored of rice. Haha, good to know that my appetite is so traditional :P
I imagine if i were forced to life without rice and use corn as substitute. I have to adapt myself again, learn how to cook corn, learn how to combine it with side dishes and vegetable and the most important thing, learn how to like it! My system has to adapt too, because sure corn's nutrients are different from rice. Is it possible to suffer from beriberi if i change rice to corn in my diet?
Yeah, some things in life are irreplaceable, just like rice :P
Not that irreplaceable though, it's okay to have them replaced every now and then (just like it's okay to have toast for your breakfast instead of rice). But to replace rice forever? No. Among many possible carbohydrate sources, I like rice the most. And so far, diet with rice along with side dishes and vegetables are enough to fulfill my needs.
So, have you ever been so used to something that it's hard for you to replace it with something else? I have.
Have you ever tried to adapt and like the replacement for 'that' thing? I have...i am trying now :)
